Traffic cemented in place after driver rolls truck at 93/Storrow split off the Tobin

WBZ shows us a what a beached cement truck looks like after it rolled over around 5 a.m. on the ramp from the Tobin that leads to I-93 south and Storrow Drive. State Police held off recovery efforts so that other drivers could squeeze by in the one remaining lane. The ramp was due to be shut at 9 a.m. to let crews get the truck out of there.

Coming from Rt 1 to go on to the Zakim can be a white knuckle drive for me. Is it just me, or do the roads turn at rather sharp angles? If you're going too fast, especially a truck with a heavy load, I can see this happening. like the guy that went over the embankment. I have no problem driving this way except for massholes on my tail when you really need to slow down to take these turns.

YES. I noticed the same thing. It's bizarre and there's no other stretch of road like it, anywhere. Something about the way the overpass banks -- it creates a weird slippage, even in my little Honda.

The road that currently scares me the most is the ramp from 128 north to the Pike east. There's a high-speed blind merge with no acceleration lane at all. And instead of a yield sign (like all the places you don't actually have to yield), this one just has a merge sign.

Does anyone have an effective way to contact MassDOT?

And it doesn't help that too many people drive like pushy ass-hats on those curves.

Nice to see a strong response from Lydia Edwards.

The Commonwealth should start charging some hefty fines for these incidents. This so-called professional driver was going way too fast for that curve, and screwed up the day for thousands of people. And it happens far too often.

I bet a mandatory $250K fine would get these yahoos to slow down.
