Globe just gives up and pulls salmon-pissing column, even after removing reference to salmon pissing

The Washington Post reports that after deleting a columnist's wish to have pissed on William Kristol's salmon and his don't-do-it-but-do-it urging to restaurant workers to do something similar to Kirstjen Nielsen's food, the Globe surrendered to criticism and pulled Luke O'Neil's online column.
The move leaves us with only Joan Vennochi's column in which she says, yeah, Nielsen is a horrible person, but we should let her speak.

Someone in a position of power who did bad things ever suffer any consequences for what they have done. it would be un-American!

Like, In all seriousness, I literally have no idea who any of the persons are that any of you are talking about in these threads. Except Joan Venocchi. She and I have a number of talks over the years over how things are run and empowering and how to get to the top. We don't always see eye to eye, but she can look up at me.
People really should learn not to read things from people they don't want to read from or about, it isn't worth putting your panties on.
Truth is, I hardly read anything anyway, it's not news if it isn't on instagram, twitter, or Utube or Snapchat.

The Globe pulled a garbage move here
Terrible move on the Globe's part. Here's what they did:
1. Accepted the column submitted by the author
2. Edited, published, and then promoted column on social media.
3. After receiving criticism (that they should've expected) re-edited column to take out references to pissing on fish.
4. Removed the column and threw the author under the bus
Profiles in cowardice, if they didn't like the opinion column they shouldn't have printed it in the first place, instead they kowtowed to the right-wing blow-hards who wanted Luke O'Neil's head.

I don't know how you can read his work and think that, but it doesn't matter. If they didn't like the column, they shouldn't have printed and promoted it.

I think a lot of these columns get posted as soon as they're written, before they are edited, which is what leads to fiascos like this. I saw one op-ed a while ago that was in desperate need of copyediting when it was first posted (to the point of being almost unreadable).

She just said on the air that only one person had read it before it was posted, stating that all online pieces are supposed to be seen by two sets of eyes before going up.
And Yet
The column was then re-edited at least twice after the initial backlash. Was that the same "one set of eyes?" Whoever is responsible for this fiasco, presumably Leung, should be fired.

The comment on O'Neil from the WGBH piece of "He said his goal was to bring a more liberal perspective to the Globe" reminds me of either Ellen Goodman or Diane White's line in the early 90's that the paper's op-eds at the time were "to the left of Lenin"
