This trooper hits a woman but goes to the hospital himself so he can claim he's a victim too. If our politicians had any spine they make it easy to fire people like that, taking their pension as well.

I read the linked article twice - did not see anything in there to support your claim. Got anything else or are you just tailoring this to fit a narrative?

Not defending hitting someone with a car at all, but, if I did I think I’d be enough of a mess to not finish my shift

Seriously? I can’t imagine what my reaction would be if I hit a person. I’m sure I would be distressed. Would it have made sense if he wasn’t evaluated and possibly suffered a medical incident?

It's fairly routine for police officers involved in incidents like this to get taken to a hospital for a checkup. This isn't Detroit of the future and our roads are not patrolled by emotionless RoboCops.

You and 28 other people like you here are careless assholes.

Because I care about the woman who got hit and not the person who needlessly hit her?

The trooper should have been relieved of duty. If he wanted to go to the hospital after that, it's his business.

The trooper - or any driver who hits a pedestrian - should be taken to a clinic or hospital as soon as possible and tested for drugs or other signs of impairment.

To care for the woman who was hit while not belittling the possible trauma of the driver.

Would you be okay if you hit someone? Maybe so, but some of us would be pretty shaken up. I guess each of us has different views of the welfare of other people.

If he was speeding or nodding off while on a detail he should be cited. If he was activating his siren and blue lights to get to his detail on time he should face suspension. I can't understand why only troopers can investigate their own accidents or why Transit Police investigate all accidents involving MBTA vehicles.
