How much money does the state/city end up spending responding to this crap? Cars were such a mistake, why do we keep catering to them so much? I've never seen multiple trucks/police/firemen have to respond to a bike that got tipped over.
And yet people still want to drive cars through there, despite plentiful transit options and bike facilities that are maintained throughout the winter.
Well, you know, it's close to my home in East Cambridge, so I often drive through that very intersection. A few thousand other people live in the vicinity as well, and some of them probably drive through there, too. I know, we should all be ashamed of ourselves for even getting into a car, much less owning one, but there it is. I don't know how to ride a bike, and I have my limits for hauling stuff on foot. Work sometimes requires me to go places that are several miles from the nearest public transit. Yes, I'd love it if First and Third Streets weren't parking lots for several hours each workday, but the MBTA doesn't work for everybody and every situation, and neither do bikes.
Tell me, did you vote in favor of increasing the gas tax? Do you oppose additional funding for alternatives like biking and public transit that others might use? What about congestion pricing, increased public parking costs, bus lanes and all that?
Its great that you got places to be and things to carry and gosh golly gee, the T just sucks because we've mismanaged transit in this area but don't you dare suggest alternatives that I don't directly benefit from. Cool.
