John Daley will be watching tonight's debate (6 p.m. on Channel 25):
Will Patrick move to the center? Will Healey go over the top? Tonight's debate will be worth watching. At the very least it will be engaging. ...
Jay Fitzgerald writes that Healey needs to alter her approach:
... A repeat of her primary-night robotic attack/here-I-am mode probably won't work. She should swing for hits, not the fence. ...
Aaron Margolis makes some debate predictions.
Solomonia has some questions for Green-Rainbow candidate Grace Ross, who will be there along with Christy Mihos.
Elias thinks the presence of Mihos and Ross will prevent any knockout blows between Healey and Patrick, but is curious as to whom the Rupert Murdoch affiliate has chosen as moderator.
Sam Seidel says he wouldn't be surprised if Healey plays the race card after all, based on a push poll call he got:
... I received such a call on September 21 from a polling firm that claimed to be out of state, and the telephone pollster claimed to have no knowlege of the candidates he was calling about. My caller ID identified the company as "Venture Data3" and lists a (541) area code. When I call the number, I get no connection.
On Blue Mass. Group, David analyzes what he calls the motley crew of GOP candidates under Healey/Hillman. He also reminds us of that nice "slum" tax break Healey's hubby got for his ritzy Beverly corporate headquarters. Cos explains why we still need a recount in Dianne Wilkerson's 2nd Suffolk primary.
On Hub Politics, Matt Margolis concludes Patrick has Gestapo tendencies, pointing to statements by Demmies about Patrick in the past.
Well, Healey needs to cut the xenophobic crap, Mass. Marrier writes:
... She may appeal to the voters she has sewn up with such drama-queen tricks. I don't see her making any headway with that 49% unenrolled with this. If she wants to play xenophobic to the detriment of children, she can expect to get called on it. ...
He also picks apart Healey's resume.
Outraged Liberal says the real issue isn't immigration but that the state has lost more than 100,000 jobs during the Romney/Healey years and that the only difference between hackfests at the turnpike authority and Massport is that the latter is run by Romney/Healey cronies.
Steve Garfield praises Healey for making the difficulties of picking somebody up at Logan one of her issues:
... So I went over to Terminal C to wait, but there is no place over there to wait. State Police move you along and make you leave. If you pull up to the far right hand side, heading to the next terminal, that's not a safe place either. The State Police make you move from that area too. I circled around the airport again and settled in at Terminal B where I wasn't bothered. ...
If only, he adds, her Web site didn't suck.
Elias on Chimes at Midnight wonders why, if Healey is so tough on crime, her main crime platform is keeping cell phones away from teens.

Make or break for some

This is the make or break for the two "other" candidates. If either Mihos or the Green/Rainbow candidate makes a significant impact with viewers, then the race becomes more interesting.
Why 6 pm?

6 pm on a weeknight is a terrible time to expect people to be home watching TV. Why didn't Fox schedule this for later in the evening? Will there be a rebroadcast?
Because it's Fox

Fox doesn't have a 6:00 news and it doesn't go national at 6:30, unlike the other local channels.
So instead of Geraldo and a Malcolm In The Middle rerun, it airs the debate, giving it a strong compete with the other locals for once, and without losing its prime time schedule.
