Of course Congress might get involved in Harvard's single-sex finals-club controversy

It's Harvard, what do you expect? The Crimson reports members of Congress, including at least one who went to school in Cambridge, are pushing a bill, basically aimed at Harvard, that would prevent colleges from punishing students who join single-sex clubs.

Starting with the class of 2021, Harvard students who participate in any of its traditional off-campus "finals clubs" that don't allow men and women can't captain sports teams or even apply for a Rhodes Scholarship. Naturally, the clubs have pals in Washington, who got members of Congress to look into this most pressing of matters.

Earlier:
Two Harvard students will have to reveal their names if they want to continue suit over the university's ban on 'finals' club membership.

What’s wrong with a group of men or women who want to only hang out with other men or women? We need the state to regulate the groups of friends we choose to be with now?

And I don't see where the state is trying that at all

and see if you can figure out which side of this "the state" is trying to add regulations on here.

You think Harvard Finals Clubs are 'groups of friends' being regulated? Oh how quaint. A pat on your head.

It would be nice if everyone's 'groups of friends' are a tightly knit and carefully curated club of rich kids from influential families, and bound by secrecy for life with regards to anything they do with one another. No, having such clubs wouldn't affect gender and racial imbalances in our power structures AT ALL.

And most Harvard students aren't rich or from influential families.

You're either ignorant of the statistical facts or, well, facts are just ignorance to you.

Let's pass laws that interfere with how Liberty University operates.

Maybe ban pool-boys from the faculty without a PhD?

Why stop at wasting national resources to muddle in protecting old boys' clubs?
