Im sorry but WTF?

Charing extra for airport parking is NOT hitting the working man. Parking in the central garage is a luxury and should be charged as such

You must live in the city of Boston and can hop on the subway to make all of your flights. Congratulations! Seriously, pat yourself on the back, because the vast majority of the people who use Logan certainly don't have it as easy.

I am in an airport at least twice a month and I live in the burbs. Taking public transportation to Logan is a freaking joke. If I'm lucky enough that my flight times line up with the commuter rail schedule I'm golden but more often than not they don't. That means that I can either pay $70 each way for a cab (keep in mind that without traffic I can be at Logan in exactly 20 minutes), pay $24 for the Logan Express plus $12/day for parking, or park in Central Parking for bargain rate of $26/day (thanks to the generous folks at Massport). Basically I can expect to almost double the price of my airline ticket when I take transportation to the airport into consideration.

Travelling in and out of Logan is downright extortion. Between the threat to raise the price of garage parking and the imminent $7 toll, I'd much rather fly out of TF Green. Here's the kicker though - my employer pays for my trips and I still think it's a wasteful use of company funds to pay $140 for a cab ride when I can park in Warwick for $12/day. Sure it's a little further, and they don't offer as many non-stop flights, but I'd still rather travel in and out of an airport that actually appreciates me as a customer.

If you'd rather fly out of TF Green, why don't you?

It seems to me that it's best to take whichever airport is the best combination of convenient and price-effective. If that's MHT or PVD, I don't think anyone will argue with that choice...

Nobody can drop you off? Not even at the airport express lot?

And if youre paying 70 each way for a cab, I suggest looking at other, fixed price services like vans.

What are you complaining about? This was a $1 increase for the hourly parking rate. If you're parking there to go away for a few days, you'd still pay the daily rate that was unaffected by the hourly increase.

If you're just complaining about the cost of parking in general, well, you knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred. You could park anywhere else you wanted and take the exact same subway you think the rest of us take for cheap, too, you know?

1. No service at the times that you need to arrive by for most west coast and business day flights (4:30 to 6:00 am)

2. The idiot who designed the walkways to the shuttles forgot that people would very likely be hauling luggage and would need to get by one another

3. Navigating just about any passage to the Blue Line from other lines or the street means several flights of stairs

4. Poor signage and directionals for the shuttles, and maps that aren't up to international signage standards (oh but looky here ... theys got lots of local namez on thems! No useful info, but plenty o' patronage tagging)

Contrast this with Portland, where I go downstairs from the main terminal, pick up luggage, and then proceed to the end of the baggage concourse and walk directly onto a train without leaving the building. Chicago has a similar set up involving a couple of moving walkways if you have to switch terminals to get to the station, and half a flight of stairs.

If the whole family is going, we typically either hire a van or fly out of Manchester or TF Greene so we can afford to ditch the car. A van ride to Medford is $50 now, a cab ride is $40. $140 from some place further out would not surprise me.
