Photographynatalia watched the annual run of the Santas in skimpy suits through the Back Bay in today's balmy climes.
Later, Gary C watched Santas by the boatload getting ready for some old-school bar hopping along Union Street:

Is this what they meant by white christmas? Because this is definitely the whitest event ever.

I was passing by Union Street and there were millions of them lining up for the pubs. The thought struck me that not one of them acted like they were from Boston. Suburbanites for days.

They don't run through very heavily populated areas of the city, and they raise money for a good cause.
Nice eyecandy shot, Adam. Something for most.

Don't run through very heavily populated areas of the city? From the top picture it looks to me like they're running right down Boylston Street, Boston's mainest street. This is not a criticism of the event itself, which I am neutral about. Just a correction for the sake of accuracy.

This is a commercial street in a commercial district.
Some people live there, but not a hell of a lot actually live there.
Note for clarity: commercial district, commercial street

I'm not aware of any non-whites having their entries rejected. Are you?

To observe that it's a wicked white event is not to claim that any sort of discrimination exists.
It's just a cultural observation about who's motivated to participate. It's like noting that Jews don't eat a lot of mayonnaise , which is not, on the face, a claim that anyone is discriminating against Jews by refusing to sell mayo to them.
That's my point

Which is exactly my point. I said nothing about discrimination.

Union Street is often full of people like that. It’s got the bars, freedom trail and holocaust memorial. Ban cars from it. This is such an obvious choice.
Not that big of an issue

I work near there and cars don't seem to be that big of a deal on Union Street. It's almost like they actively avoid it. It's an easy street to cross. Now, the streets SURROUNDING it on the other hand...
