This is what happens when the city ignores the rat complaints.

That is how I feel every week when I pay taxes.

It's a shame that you're forced, against your will, to pay your share of what it costs to maintain civilization. Perhaps you should move somewhere they don't make you do that.

...move to Mi'sippi and leech off the blue states, then.

You pay your taxes every week?

I mean, I guess they do withholding, so if you get a weekly paycheck, yeah. Kind of sucks to get a portion of your pay used to fund schools and roads and transit and arts and defense and police and fire like [shuffles papers] everyone else.

like Florida, then.

You have to be pretty stupid if you think I’m complaining about the 5.05% mass income tax. It’s the 37% federal tax I pay used to support endless wars, corporate welfare and companies like Amazon paying $0 in taxes.

To assume that anyone would know you were exempting some taxes, but not others, from your comment. Here's the entirety of what you said:

That is how I feel every week when I pay taxes.

It isn't even remotely stupid to read that as including state taxes.

Who saw Murkin's post, snickered a little bit at an ok joke, then moved on without feeling the need to type some mini rant about the tax system?

You may be the only one who didn't see his comment as a "mini rant about the tax system."

Not a tax expert, but Amazon is generally known to reinvest all/most profits to fuel growth. Corporate investment usually equals growth and jobs. Growth and jobs generally leads to greater tax receipts via new payroll taxes, services, and consumer spending. I think treating business investment as an expense is good policy.

That said, there are a lot of issues around legal corporate tax evasion (moving legal entity headquarters to low-tax countries, etc.).

You use the roads that even the taxes of non-drivers pay for.

For this person's misfortune. I once had my car stolen - also a Honda. Right of the street in our fair city

That really sucks. I'm sorry it happened to you. I hope you get a swift resolution that's as painless as possible.

How does one even remedy this? It's not like you can tow the car.

Buy 4 new rims/tires and pay someone to come out and install them on site? I'm guessing that'd cost enough to incur an insurance claim.

Happened to me once. (Street racers like Honda rimz.) You have to get a specially equipped flatbed out there and fix the undercarriage damage if the thieves weren't kind enough to leave you up on sturdy cinderblocks.

It's awful for the car and not as simple as popping new steelies on in the parking lot. Definitely an insurance call.

And wheel locks just encourage them to smash windows and hunt around inside, too. So that's even more fun.

Whoever did this deseves a year in prison, at least.
Maybe they will find them and prosecute, but I doubt it.
