My prayers go out to his family and the train crew and passengers. There has been a rash of tragic events on the MBTA in the past year. The MBTA response is no foul play suspected or trespassing which is getting tiresome.

Trespassing is pretty straight forward. No foul play typically means suicide

Based on comments I have seen in this forum and other forums, there seem to be a lot of people that don't realize that suicide by train is sadly not that uncommon, and something that has been going on probably back to when trains were pulled by steam locomotives. Not every person struck by a train is a suicide, but many of them are.

Just want to point out it can also reasonably be accidental and not suicidal, so best not to assume.

Sometimes it's just someone waking on the tracks for fun or because it's a shortcut. They didn't want to die, they just didn't hear the train.

Walking on active train tracks is suicidal.

Walking on tracks is stupid and risky. But unless your desire is to actually end your life, it's not suicidal.

Aneurysm, etc... fall under, no foul play...

But what else would you have them say? Someone walks on active tracks of their own volition and gets hit and killed, there is no foul play and they are trespassing. It's terrible that someone has passed away but facts are facts.

As foul play is very rare in cases like this, why must the police automatically make a statement that no foul play is suspected?

If they don't someone will ask WTF happened.

Can't win for providing info.

...because otherwise somebody will immediately and baselessly accuse the train engineer of being drunk or texting, probably.

lets pretend that the mbta is not horribly mismanaged: what could they reasonably and effectively do here? put drumpf's border wall along every inch of their tracks?

while they're technically a "teen", they're also technically and "adult" (& a trespassing adult at that...)

Does it really, really make any difference in this matter? Whether a "teen" or an "adult" or a "adult teen" or whatever...the person is still dead.
