Police: Man spit on produce at Kingston Stop & Shop; shoppers tackled him

The Patriot Ledger reports shoppers at the Kingston Stop & Shop tackled a man this afternoon after he allegedly began spitting on produce. Police arrested him, the store informed him he was no longer welcome and, as you can see in the video, Marty the Robot whirled around and beeped uselessly, frustrated he could not continue his search for fallen lettuce leaves because of the confrontation.

yup. I really can't wait for it to get really bad...
I mean we have lines outside stores now, and while its orderly.. give it a week or two until folks's supplies start to run down and stock is still slow getting to the stores. There will be fist fights to get at stuff or people knockin someone over outside the store for some TP.
Think im crazy.. just wait for produce shortages. Much of the migrant workers are being denied entrance on the southern border. We're extremely lucky here in New England where most of our produce during the summer comes from local farms with backfill from national supplies, but still.
But come the fall.. its gonna be grim if this keeps up. I will turn into Ma Ingalls and take up canning and find a cool corner in my basement for a root cellah and slowly start to stock up on root veggies and gords.

They could have let the *ss go and hoped the police could find him. But by taking him down instantly for all to see, hopefully potential future *sses now know that *ssery will not be tolerated at all!

What in the world could this guy have been thinking??
I mean, even if he doesn't have COVID-19, sneezing and coughing directly on produce is disgusting and uncivilized, and the store is well within it's rights to ban him completely.
Also, even if the guy is perfectly healthy and not infected with anything, it would be still be disgusting if the store did NOT immediately destroy the affected produce and clean and sanitize the area. I'm glad they didn't wait to be told to do so by the board of health.

Banning him from the store is not enough...
Stop & Shop should (or will) make him pay for the cost of all the produce he spat on. If he affected the entire produce section, he pays for it all. Thats a huge restitution bill.
