Forget all those old time Boston places that closed recently. This one really meant something to me. Damn!

problem for the jejune transient glass box set as they need another starbucks (at like 500 ft from the next starbucks) or a chipotle right there.

Brilliant Luke. I am going to use this if you don't mind.

Says it’s replaced with an Asian fusion place.

and I hope you're wrong.

I'm heartbroken by this

My guess is another bank. It's always another bank.

And when’s the last time you set foot in a bank? Hell, I can’t remember the last time I went to an ATM, much less had to step foot INside.

I'm sure Starbucks has been eyeing that corner for some time now.

This sucks. So many good memories.

Sorry to hear this. A legendary place I thought would always be there. I first went there in the 70s when the drinking age was 18 and so was I.

stinks that its closing, but the sound in there was always terrible. the only band i saw there that sounded any good was eyehategod, which was an unforgettable show.

Eyehategod is an unforgettable experience live- still recall opening moment of their 1998 show at Middle East

Am I only one who recalls the early-mid 90's period where GS was regarded as a BU/ BC dance hangout?

Doomriders, Mutoid Man... the sound was always great if the band was loud enough.

Really? Maybe my standards are low but I generally remember pretty good sound. I dunno if it was always the same person on the board though, probably not.

I think it totally depends on the sound person- I've worked with people with people who could produce a Brian Wilson record on a couple bussed 4-channel mixers and others who couldn't get feedback out of a state-of-the-art board

Trying to recall if was GS or the Linwood that was still running sound on an ancient Mackie 1400-level board in the early-mid 2000's

The sound there was usually very good.

It was a fantastic venue and so many great shows were there. We are still fighting for Great Scott. You can go somewhere else with your perfect ears.

This is a huge loss.

So many good memories.

I'm glad I at least got to play there once, missed out on TT's.

Always had cover charges and good bouncers that would take good fake ID's.

Too bad I guess.

Legit my two favorite music places, a good show at Great Scott with that funky stage near the bathroom area or 90s night with DJ Phat Mike at Common Ground.

ha! yeah it was weird how you had to kinda push up to the front/side stage to get to the bathrooms, but given the room it was either there or by the front door for the stage.

played there a couple times. cool staff, good vibe, right next to berklee practice space. will be missed

Dear Landlord, thank you for successfully contributing to Boston's rapidly disappearing character.

Go to some new, huge, boring place in the Seaport?

fewer and fewer of them over the last ten. Glad I got to a couple last year.

RIP. Goddamn it.

Orchard Skateshop moved out yesterday too after 10 years on Harvard Ave. Heard it’s the same scenario as Great Scott and new landlord refused to renew the lease.

Looks like Cheap Chic is empty now too. What’s happening in Allston?

I have had no need to set foot in Allston since my favorite place, Urban Renewals, a couple of blocks from Great Scott's, up and moved to some utterly inaccessible place in some God-forsaken part of Roslindale.
