It looks like a well-planned transition for current Pine Manor students and faculty, unlike the Mt. Ida fiasco.

Does Pine Manor still have the nickname "Pine Mattress" or did that die out in the 90's.

Right around the time it changed its student base.

Will BC now get to claim Busty Heart as an alumna?

For Boston will now be For Boobston in her honor.

(Please forgive me if that is offensive, but the nice woman from Wellesley made her career from her physical appearance and attributes.)

There was apparently a lack of dim witted trust fund daughters to pick from since other schools were lowering their admission standards based upon if you could pay full freight for your future Nantucket restaurant hostess / high end boutique salesperson daughter.

They tried to do what Mt. Ida did and attract more kids from lower socio economic backgrounds to give a smaller classroom learning environment. Good for them to realize that helping stoned yacht club kids from CT's Gold Coast a "degree" wasn't the right thing to do. Too bad it did not work out.

I will be shocked if the Town of Brookline does not try to do an eminent domain run around on BC here to get that site or work out some kind of deal for part of the site. 40 acres in Chestnut Hill doesn't exactly show up everyday.

John, your accuracy about the state of affairs around here is inspiring.

A couple of years ago Brookline floated the idea of taking a chunk of the property by eminent domain and building a new elementary school there. No doubt that's back on the table. BC might be OK with their taking the playing fields and land along Heath St. I hear there's also a residential property adjacent to the southern part of the campus that's for sale.

Because I'd be rooting for the Catholic/Jesuit entity in that scenario.

Also, does this mean that the Pine Manor kids can't get rubbers anymore, or are they grandfathered in?

They won't even be taught heliocentrism anymore in Astronomy. #Gallileo4eva

That's where the world is now...

Then Brookline might want to review the situation over in Newton, i.e., Newton's eminent domain action against BC for Webster Woods.

From what I’ve heard there were also some serious management issues, like going through 4 presidents in 5 years.

"Girls at lower-tier women's colleges are dumb whores." Old. Stale. Offensive.
Go drag your knuckles back to your caves.

I did outreach on PMC campus a few years ago. The student body was mostly first generation/low income students, many students of color and from former industrial towns in New England. I know they also struggled with low retention rates that contributed to their financial problems. The current president instituted reforms that supposedly would help with this but we'll never know if they worked.

Unlike the Wheelock students, they won't get a BC degree unless they go to evening classes at BC...

They won't automatically transfer either – they'll have to apply for admission to BC's night school division.

was 'merged' into BU, not BC.

Will there be a death pool on which college will be next?

I'm going to say Hampshire College will be the next to go.
