Maybe Brady figured Floridians would prove more receptive to his supplements

Orlando Weekly reports Tom Brady wasted no time getting to shilling $45 bottles of "immunity" supplements.

Appropriately called “Protect,” the vitamins essentially contain the same ingredients as a $12 pack of Emergency-C, but with more coronavirus-buzzworthy additions like elderberries and larch tree.

He's got plenty of money. I can see hawking TB12 t-shirts and stuff like that, since it makes money and builds his brand. But why would he sell obvious crap like this? It can't be just for the money and it also detracts from his brand.

This is probably some employee at the TB12 group who's been assigned to find wellness products that can easily be dropshipped to their target market. That's not to take all the blame off of him though - he or someone who works for him really need to do a better job of vetting this stuff.

Some employee? I doubt it. I think TB is at least somewhat aware of and sensitive to his brand value, and I can't imagine him letting much happen with his name on it without being involved. He doesn't seem to do "easy" tagging. If it wasn't his idea directly, it's something in a category that his guru/trainer discussed with him

At times I wonder if it's some product of competitiveness and/or insecurity.
That he MUST set bar in on-field achievement and fitness and business success where no athlete before him went and none after can follow.
...or...
That his wife has had some better-paying years than he.

This is not the action of an intelligent person. He's dumb and he's probably being taken advantage of on some level.

How is that different than the Kardashians...ok bad example.

But in all seriousness, he is trying to make money off his image, nothing more, nothing less.

He has played football longer than anyone in the history of the league, and his exercise/diet/sleep routines are concepts that should surely make him money no?

records yet. He's obviously very long-lived by most measures -- seasons, regular-season games played, games played including the post-season, starts -- but among QBs, it's currently Blanda, Favre, Brady.

Blanda has an asterisk, as his longevity was extended by ending his QB/K career as a kicker only (barring a few garbage-time snaps) in his last few seasons. He still holds the seasons-played record across all positions. Brady has a good chance to catch Favre in games, though Brees is still active and in the mix. Most service records are held by kickers, no surprise. Morten Andersen's games-played record looks tough to catch.

I still think Chommie's the QB GOAT, fight me. His current QB records:

Regular season wins by a starting quarterback (219)
Most passing yards, regular season and playoffs (85,959)
Most passing touchdowns, postseason included: (614)
Most touchdowns thrown to different receivers (77)
Game-winning drives, postseason included (58) -- phew!
Division titles (17)
Playoff games started (41)
Playoff wins (30)
Playoff touchdown passes (73)
Playoff passing yards (11,388)
Super Bowl appearances (9)
Super Bowl wins (6)
Super Bowl MVPs (4)
Super Bowl touchdown passes (18)
Super Bowl passing yards (2,838)

In most pro sports, rings are the GOAT tie-breaker for me, but that game-winning-drives stat is a big marker of a champion in my book, too.

But he is unique in the sense that he has used strength and conditioning techniques that simply aren’t used in the NFL for the most part, and that may or may not be related to his longevity. Either way it’s smart on his part to try to profit off these programs imo.

You think Gwyneth Paltrow really believes in all the goop she sells?

But she is the same as 1,000 other models actresses. Brady is elite. Best ever, maybe top 3, top 10 without an argument.

And this sort of stuff is very common in the supplement field so I’ll admit this stuff right now he’s selling isn’t worth it. But as a whole his product has some value for good reason.

I think his problem is his marketing skills. He’s awkward, stiff, and generally aloof on camera. Reminds me of The character “Rocky” when he started doing all that commercial stuff. I don’t think he’s dumb by any means though, he just shouldn’t get in front of a camera.

His supermodel wife has enormous stacks of cash - vastly more than he ever made in the NFL or from endorsements. Or ever will.

I think he's that retired guy down the street that decides to sell AMWAY to "keep busy".

And not sure what his wife has to do with it. Shes worth about 350 million and hes worth probably 150 million.

Who knows how much time per day he actually puts into this stuff either.

can actually act when bothered to try and given a decent role.

But I do think her pseudo-medicine, like Brady's, can be dangerous hucksterism. Some people are dumb enough to buy snake oil when they need real medicine, and selling it to them is quasi-criminal, in my book, or should be. Don't think an herbal concoction is going to protect you from concussions. If you suffer from a hormonal imbalance, seek the help of a trained physician: don't steam your woo-woo with mugwort.

This falls under our whole unregulated "supplements" industry, where the label only has to say, in so many words, "This shit don't really work", but some people buy it anyway because of a slick pitch or pitchperson. This is an area where the government should step in, lest people think that sticking a black-light bulb up your ass will treat covid. (Okay, bad example.)

Tom Brady is a very stupid person with a blinkered experience of life, certain irrational fixations, a lot of money, and a fully staffed stable of enablers.

I am so glad it is permissible to hate Tom Brady now. I disliked him even when it was still illegal in this state.
