NBC Boston reports the state and the Boston Public Health Commission have ordered the Bay State Cruise Co. to stop running harbor cruises after former state Rep. Marty Walz posted a photo of the company's Provincetown II with the top deck crammed with people, many without masks on.
The order notes that while ferry services, group charters and tours are allowed in the current phase of Massachusetts' reopening plan, the Summer Music Cruise and other group charters with dancing are not.

"Clearly, this is a situation where the public's view is far more important than whether or not we are conducting activities in accordance with regulations," Glasfeld said. "We value our reputation as being a company that does the right thing, and we are working with the City of Boston's Dept of Health this week to further work on what needs working on."
Uhhhh, it seems pretty clear to me. Party cruises are not currently allowed.

So if "group charters" are allowed, could I hire out the PTown II for me and 300 of my closest friends to tool around the harbor, playing tunes and dancing and drinking?
(I wouldn't, as we're in a pandemic, but a friend wanted to know.)

It is possible to run a cruise while adhering to the spirt of the law. I've got no idea if any of these places are, but being on the top of a boat in a not-too-crowded configuration is not unsafe. It's safer than patio dining at a restaurant giving the amount of air movement.
Patio dining is definitely...

The problem is the type of people that go on these cruises. I was in seaport one day and many people were not wearing masks. They wouldn’t move over on the sidewalk when other pedestrians were coming their way (even though it’s obviously VITALLY important to walk three abreast when you are hanging out with your friends, rather than walk single file for a few seconds while others pass by), and seemed not to care whatsoever whether or not they catch it or spread it to others. If it weren’t for people like this, we maybe could have gotten rid of COVID by now. I think that law enforcement should start cracking down on people who don’t follow regulations.
Gonna guess they got the message

I imagine it'll be a lot more expensive for them to get shut down than it will for them to simply refrain from doing this stupid shit in the first place.
