Lynn man charged with shooting Shawmut Avenue clerk in the head; victim remains in critical condition

A Lynn man already behind bars for a violent armed robbery in Brockton now faces charges for a shooting inside a Shawmut Avenue convenience store on July 14 in which the clerk was shot in the head even after handing money from the register, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Stephon Samuel, 25, will have to be transported to Roxbury Municipal Court from the Plymouth County House of Correction for arraignment on charges of armed assault with intent to murder, armed robbery with a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition for the Roxbury attack, because he is being held in lieu of bail following his arrest for the July 22 armed robbery of a Motel 6 in Brockton.

According to the DA's office and Boston Police, Samuel walked into the M&R convenience store, 718 Shawmut Ave., around 9:15 p.m. on July 14, and demanded money from the register. Clerk Tanjim Siam complied, but Samuel then took him to the back and shot him in the head, the DA's office reports.

In a statement, DA Rachael Rollins said:

Mr. Siam survived and is clinging to life as we speak. He is a fighter and we are hoping for his full recovery. My heart goes out to his family. I hope that holding Mr. Samuel responsible for his brazen violence, which we fully intend to do, brings the Siam family some small amount of solace.

Innocent, etc.

His family deserves our support. The shooter Samuel is the poster child for life without parole.

His family members are all in Bangladesh. According to the Go Fund Me, they recently got visas and are awaiting COVID clearance: https://www.gofundme.com/f/22tnn67lc0

I find this story particularly disturbing whenever I read or hear about it. I feel so horrible for this poor kid and his family.

And note to the bail fund: This guy dos not need to be released anytime soon!

The victim isn't a kid... 25 years old is an adult. Be respectful!

I realize it's not the main issue, and that people are allowed to travel, but I'm always curious why people ended up commiting these types of crimes so far from home. How does Lynn guy end up robbing stores in Brockton, as well as Boston? Was he visiting grandma and just stepped out to rob somebody? Is he a Mass/Cass resident?
