Two Connecticut teens charged with smashing into fancy Boylston Street boutique, stealing $14,000 worth of sunglasses, purses

Boston Police report arresting two teens from coastal Connecticut early this morning on charges they smashed their way into Bottega Venetta, 310 Boylston St., then tried to make off with 19 pairs of sunglasses and two purses with a retail value of more than $14,000.
Police said that when officers asked the two - one an 18-year-old from Stonington, the other an 18-year-old from Westbrook - about all the stuff they dropped on the sidewalk as the officers approached, the two replied that "someone had broken into the store and they went inside and took the items."
Believing that that someone was, in fact, the two teens, officers arrested them on charges of felony breaking and entering a building in the nighttime and larceny over $1,200, police say.

Pediatric dentists are good people. If there's a shield wall being manned by pediatric dentists, I don't care WHAT agency is on the other side, they need to look long and hard in the mirror to try and figure out why they are getting up in the morning and making the world a worse place.

Once again, excellent work by the Boston Police when simply going to the scene, finding the break, suspects gone and keyholder notified, would have been more than adequate in today's climate. BPD went the extra mile and found the culprits and confronted them, something that could cost a career if things went bad. It was nice to see BPD quickly tally up the amount of last night's theft. On that note, do we have a comprehensive damage and theft estimate for the entire city after the peaceful protests and riots in Boston on May 31? I understand the amount of theft and destruction from that night alone is massive but hasn't been reported. The media should express at least some some curiosity and ask Walsh for the numbers, no matter how embarrassing, and ask why they've been concealed.

As implied by Adam's question, their identities would most likely only be of interest to readers who knew of them already. Personally, I don't know anyone who fits the descriptions, so learning their names doesn't add any value for me. If I did know someone who fit the descriptions, I would read the linked police report.

I realize it's not the main issue, and that people are generally allowed to travel, but I'm always curious why people ended up commiting these types of crimes so far from home.
My guess
Some people believe, for whatever reason, that there's a better chance of not being caught if committing the crime away from where they are likely to be "known."
