Man charged with OUI after allegedly rear-ending police cruiser on Seaver Street in Roxbury
A man who served time for severely beating his girlfriend was arrested on Seaver Street this morning after he allegedly slammed into a K-9 cruiser.
Live Boston reports Vincent Norwood, 45, of Dorchester faces OUI charges following the 2:45 a.m. crash, which injured the police officer in the cruiser. He was transported to a local hospital. His K-9 partner, however, escaped unharmed, as did Norwood. Norwood's travel companion was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
In 2011, Norwood pleaded guilty in New Hampshire to beating his girlfriend - who died five months later - in front of her three-year-old daughter. Norwood had initially been facing charges that could have landed him behind bars for up to 60 years; in recognition of the plea, the judge in the case sentenced him to 3 to 8 years.
Live Boston reports Norwood had a GPS ankle bracelet this morning, possibly as a condition of his bail while he awaits trial for an incident last year at a Boston University convenience store, during which he allegedly stabbed a man in the arm.
Innocent, etc.

3 strikes time
I know we don't have a 3 strikes law here. But in this case, if convicted on the stabbing and DUI, then it may be warranted.
Is that a handicap placard ...
hanging from the mirror?
Too many dangerous people have...
... a license to drive a dangerous weapon.
I agree
But do you think this guy really cares about having a valid license?
That's no reason not to
That's no reason not to suspend someone's license.
He could get pulled over. With a license, he ends up with a ticket. With no license, he could end up in jail.
Won't matter if he was in jail
If MA jailed more repeat offenders they wouldn't be able to drive with or without a license.
This is the one area where we could use some more serious punishment.
Dare I suggest
If the Commonwealth started hailing people for driving without a license there would eventually be “equity issues.”

Crown Vics are the best
It makes me sad to see a survivor Crown Vic get crashed like this. The new police cars suck, every time I see a Crown Vic still in service, it makes me happy

Drivers out here in Boston
Drivers out here in Boston are really excited to demonstrate what the new Globe Spotlight series is all about, huh? How soon can we get this guy working for a commercial trucking company?
Just curious, why did you
Just curious, why did you mention the 2011 conviction?
