The Fours on Canal Street says good bye. Its Quincy and Norwell locations remain open.

Drove up West Broadway the other night past a few very large places between D and Dot St. filled with 20 somethings drunkenly falling out of Lyfts and Ubers and sashaying into places.

I know the Fours depends on the Garden, but is there a double standard going on with some bars, sorry, I meant restaurants serving alcohol, and how things are enforced?

Anyone notice anything out there unusual?

I think you not seeing twentysomethings sashaying into The Fours has everything to do with the limited floor space, absence of a DJ, and shirt-and-tie clad bartenders.

"I know the Fours depends on the Garden"

That was literally their business model. They had no other revenue streams. There are/were 20 liquor licenses in the Bullfinch Triangle and one would expect half will be closed within six months without any games or concerts being played at the Garden.

It has nothing to do with anything "unusual" outside of serving a very narrow and time-constrained customer base who's already spending a lot of money on the venue next door and parking for the oversized luxury pickup truck that brought them there.

It doesn't look like there will be any games or concerts at the Garden -- at least with fans in the seating area -- for at least six months. Games/concerts with reduced capacity wouldn't provide enough traffic to support all the bars/restaurants near the Garden, either. Plus there's basically no business travel so the new hotels in the area are no help.

I know the Fours depends on the Garden

Pretty much every bar in that area depends on the Garden. That entire area is a ghost town in summer.

We need to help them.
We could increase the commuter trade. If peoples' trains are substantially delayed leaving North Station in the evening, the (remaining) commuter population will simply have nothing else to do but drink and eat apps until their train does run!
We can make this happen! I'm thinking something like Crash Davis and the guys in Bull Durham engineering a rainout by breaking into the ballpark and turning on the sprinklers - we have somebody throw a bag of wet leaves on the drawbridge! It'll gum things up for a while!
