Boston Restaurant Talk reports an outlet of the Jersey Mike's sub chain has opened in a (gasp!) closed Dunkin' Donuts in that sort of rotary where Washington Street and Providence Highway (no longer confused with Rte. 1!) meet in Dedham.
That only solidifies that stretch of Providence Highway-into-VFW Parkway as one of the fast-food chainiest stretches of road in the immediate Boston area.
Starting at Washington Street in Dedham and going to Spring Street in West Roxbury, this 1.5-mile stretch of road now has, in order: Jersey Mike's, Uno, IHOP, Starbucks, Chipotle, Five Guys, Panda Express, Chick-fil-A, McDonald's, Popeyes, Burger King, a doubled up Taco Bell/Long John Silver's and, of course, a Dunkin' Donuts (there used to be three, in addition to the Jersey Mike's one, there was the one just past the McDonald's that closed and is now Popeyes; for that matter, there used to be a second McDonald's across the highway from the first, next to the Chuck E. Cheese).

That's where the laser-tag place (when it re-opens) and the sex-toys shop come in - work off all those calories!
You love that sex toy shop, don't ya.

Looks like the Jersey Mikes has moved into the former Dunkin Donuts between Sleepy's and the cheap gas station.
(If you can refer to a Chuck E Cheese that hasn't been there in years, I can use the former name of the mattress store.)
Oh, right!

Thanks, in the interests of completeness, I have, of course, updated the story to reflect that there used to be three Dunkin' Donuts on that stretch.

I wonder if Arby's will make some sort of return to the Boston area with their parent company Inspire Brands buying Dunkin Brands- recall the former Dorchester, Quincy and Waltham locations back in the 90s

were York Steak House (as a kid, the idea of a cafeteria-style steakhouse and to choose your own dessert were mind-blowing) and if you stretch the boundary a few feet, Rossi's Italian Restaurant, which was on the corner of Washington and Harris St. -- looks like where Blue Ribbon BBQ is now.
And before the huge Toys R Us opened up (and since closed), there was Child World -- a standalone building next to Dedham Mall about where Bob's Discount Furniture is now.

Why would anyone in the Boston area eat at Arby's when you can get real roast beef all over the place? That would be like going to Subway for a steak & cheese.

But they're not really a chain (there's only one other) and they're locally owned.
A Mexican place here that isn't a chain?

Lums. It was located where the Taco Bell is now. Draft beer and hot dogs. (Mis)spent a few afternoons there a long time ago.
