The Globe reports BPD is also looking at whether he issued threats on Twitter. His Twitter feed is gone now, but, of course, somebody saved his tweets and forwarded them to BPD first.

A note about protests
By SwirlyGrrl

Government employees can go to rallies on their own time and stay out of trouble and that is just fine.
However, with the COVID 19 rules they are required to notify their supervisor that they plan to travel so that their work can be scheduled around the necessary quarantine when they return. So if officers attended the DC events they would have been required to quarantine and not be eligible to work for up to two weeks or until they had a negative test.
The real problem being the threats, of course.
Not great!

...because I misattributed a call to assassinate Mike Pence made by Lin Wood to the officer in question. I (slightly) regret the error.
BPD didn't investigate?

Having an officer make Twitter threats is bad enough, but having the BPD ignore it until the Globe started asking questions is even worse.
"Another Twitter user had taken screenshots of @mailboxjoe’s posts, then shared them online with the Boston Police Department’s social media account and identified @mailboxjoe as a veteran officer. It does not appear that the department acted on that message prior to Globe inquiries."
BPD ignoring law breaking

BPD ignoring law breaking officers is wrong but it's a very well established tradition -and not only at BPD.

I'm not seeing where @mailboxjoe broke any laws. The worst he does is wish Pence a poor night's sleep.

If he was in the Capitol, his career is over and his pension is frozen. He can go manage a liquor store. There's no other acceptable outcome.
That's cutely optimistic

Assuming he actually sees consequences from BPD, and those consequences actually include firing, the result for his career is almost certainly that he just goes to a police department in a different city or town and no one says a thing.

Why is Twitter still around if people use it to send threats? It should be removed from the apple and google store

It wasn't a coup and it wasn't an insurrection. If it was either of these, every single person who stormed the capital would have been armed and everyone inside of the capital would have been shot or held hostage.
Stop using these inflated talking points. You are just as bad as the "reporters" over the summer that were standing in front of burning builders and calling it a peaceful protest. Oh wait, you are the same as those "reporters". Carry on.
Yeah, coup is perhaps the wrong word

Since it's French. It's better expressed in the original German: Putsch.
Glad to have helped, "mein Freund."
It was an attempted coup, insurrection, sedition.

Deny that fact, and you are a coddler of traitors, an enemy of democracy, and siding with cop-killers. Take your delusions and fuck right off.
The technical term is "self-coup"

Your criteria are utter bullshit and your comment is generously larded with bad faith pseudo-arguments and ad hominem attacks, but you are correct that it wasn't a "coup". The technical term is "self-coup", in which an individual or group in power attempts to retain power through unlawful means. The fact that the attempt has failed (so far) does not change what it is.

Of a stolen election. Challenges have been overturned in DOZENS of (rump's own stacked) courts. How can people claim to love the country while completely disregarding its established laws? The cognitive dissonance is staggering! Do I respect cops but not judges? I ARE CONFUSE!

Next you’re going to explain to us how it was all Antifa’s fault and it wasn’t the MAGAwaffen who invaded the United States seat of government with the intent—and I quote the Department of Justice here—“to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States Government” and overturn an election.

If it wasn't an insurrection, why the hell were armed men carrying a rebel flag into the Capitol.
There are two things that flag means--racism and insurrection. You're trying to convince us that they weren't trying to overthrow the government, they just like looking like racists.
It wasn’t a insurrection?

You don’t need weapons for a coup, or an insurrection. They were going on all the brought them there. Lies, hate, racism, 1776, where’s Nancy, hang Mike Pence. Either of you don’t want to admit it or you’re just stupid to realize what was going on. In this country‘s history there’s been a lot of presidents that fixed the economy. But none had a following like trump. It’s racism that draws these people to him plain and simple. They can say whatever they want to say what’s obvious is obvious. BIGGLY
