Of course they're not considering a trade...they don't have any partners out there willing to take him from us.

I'm guessing the reason that they're not going to buy the Globe is that part of it for the team will be taking back the NYTimes share of the Sox team as part of the deal and since that's probably the ONLY profitable thing that the NYTimes has in its portfolio, it's just not willing to give it up as part of any deal with Henry. That's just a wild guess though, it's not like I've looked into the NYTimes portfolio to know what all they have going on...but giving up one of their only life preservers just to cut ties with the Globe just seems like a big sticking point.

The NYTimes Company is actively trying to sell their share of the Red Sox and NESN.

When I read that, I took it to mean that Henry was refusing to fork over that extra quarter to buy a paper when the price goes up.

Latest statement from Guild President Dan Totten:

We are in the midst of serious, substantive negotiations with the New York Times. This has been a long, complex process but we are hopeful and optimistic that an agreement can be reached. We are committed to keeping The Boston Globe alive and to protecting the hardworking men and women who make this newspaper so vital to Massachusetts and New England.
