I wonder why university dental clinics are featuring prominently in this flu narrative.

Is it because they're a high-risk place for flu transmission?

Because they're normally more quick to identify infection?

Because one clinic happened to detect it and the others (or authorities over them) have been super-sensitized because of that?

Dental schools' clinics are notorious for not disclosing their infections rates and serving enormous numbers of patients. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center did disclose their infections rates and the rates immediately went down. The North American movement for medical centers including dental schools' clinics to disclose their infections rates is an advocacy movement that will improve healthcare. At our dental schools' clinics faculty instructors go from patient to patient double gloving but not washing, a poor example for student dentists,
