Boston shouldn't care about tourism anymore so why does it matter? Transit sucks. MBTA is an embarrassment.

But just to help focus you, that's a photo of an electronic signboard in New York City.

It's not the tourists than need that information. It's the commuters.

Also, I wish people would disabuse themselves of this notion that other major transit systems are fairing better than the T.

The metro transit police have issued covid citations for mask violations to the tune of 74,000. The MBTA transit police have issued covid citations for mask violations to the tune of 0.

I remain absolutely baffled about exactly how the above comment directly relates to this little story...

Because I gotta say, a few hundred thousand people every day (during non-Covid times) are gonna disagree with you there.

"Due to equipment failure, until further notice, shuttle bus service will be provided from Downtown Crossing to New York City. We apologize for the delays, and thank you for riding the T."

That is a thing of beauty.
- GLX to Canada
- Cleveland Circle to Cleveland shuttle
- extending the IRT #1 (or restoring the old #9) to Ashmont
- repurposing Amtrak NEC in NJ to subway
- the Robert Moses High Speed Line (!) from DC to Staten Island Ferry
- connecting Tren Urbano from Puerto Rico to South Ferry via submarine (!)

Also, the Orange Line ends in Forest Hills, Queens.

...the Red Line does go to Broadway. I just hope the theatres open again soon. :-)

I'm amused by the fact that the outline of the "subways of North America" looks like South America.

"CMS" means "content management system."

Speaking of content companies, that's the old headquarters of the New York Sun (of Yes, Virginia... fame in the background (besides realizing the location, the distinctive clock/sign is visible if you blow up the photo - look next to the window above the PICARD ad in the background).
Makes one wonder what would have happened to Virginia's letter and the reply if some "content company" had crossed connections.
