When I was a little girl I thought my moms sunflowers in the backyard were watching me...lol

That pretty much describes every public green space in Boston.

I've noticed plenty of space in unused tree planters, in the greenspace between the sidewalk and the road, under-utilized planters, etc. around the city. Is anyone aware of whether there are ordinances against volunteering to fill these up with native, low-maintenance trees, shrubs, grasses and other perennials?

The way I see it, it's improving the public domain, saving the city money and adding greenery while sequestering carbon, so I don't really see a downside. Even simply spreading clover seed around the city would help pollinators and improve soil quality. Just wondering if how low-key one needs to be when doing so...

Sunflowers are amazing. They are notably tolerate of drought and bad soil, can be started by anyone, and always bring a smile to people's faces. They smell nice and attract good insects.

This project is great. My compliments to the group behind the project!

There are beautiful big sunflowers all over the place in Watertown just growing out of cracks. I have a picture with a giant one I would upload but can’t figure out how
