Happy End of the Emergency Day

Today's the day the State of Emergency is officially over, although you might still have to wear a mask in certain places, like hospitals. So go out and celebrate. But maybe first pause for a moment in memory of the more than 17,000 Massachusetts residents who died.

We’ve learned a few things.

As someone with health issues that make me higher risk, I will still be wearing my mask in stores and anyplace crowded. Because of all the places COVID-19 isn't yet controlled new, more infectious variants keep arising. And the current vaccines have lower (though still good) effectiveness against them.

Enjoy the freedom of the summer. Don't be surprised if things get worse again (though hopefully not nearly as bad) once the weather gets cold again.

They just passed 80% vaccination rate in adults. If everyone would just get their shot, we'd be a lot closer to done with this.

The risks of heart issues with the vaccine are miniscule

The risks of heart issues with COVID are EXTREME.

Go back to that "orders of magnitude" bit from your high school math class and try again.

You're the problem. If you want to join society, accept responsibility, do your part. Otherwise you're just a lazy freeloader.

Not willing to risk it, not for my bad heart. How am I a freeloader if I pay taxes?? I did the mask thing when mandatory. Stop shaming people for being different you clown.

Have you spoken with a physician about the benefits vs. risks of this decision?

Do you prefer "free-rider"? Because it fits.

You don't get the vaccine.

You should be surcharged on your insurance accordingly. The risks of the vaccine are <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< than the risks of the disease, honey.
