Can they take their masks off when riding MBTA? Or should they just assume it's okay because more and people are maskless on the train each day because MBTA sets an example that it's okay? Daily rider of Orange Line here morning and evening, fully vaccinated and wears mask because of the comeback of Covid variants. And after what happened to the vaccinated in Provincetown I'm tired.
Of course they will. The pandemic is far from over folks. People are still dying everyday in Boston.
People are still dying everyday in Boston from heart disease, old age, and other causes. Boston hasn't has a COVID death (edit: everyday) in over a month.
Boston hasn't has a COVID death in over a month.
It shows several deaths in Suffolk County in the last month. Don't Panic is correct; you're not. Quel surprise.
You are right I misread the chart, but consider the original claim "people are still dying everyday" thoroughly refuted.
You may fly your pedant pennant high. ;)
My point was people are still dying from this pandemic and any and all precautions should be taken to protect our children at home and in school. The virus is still mutating. Why take chances?
Yeah that link shows eight deaths in Suffolk County in the last 30 days. Maybe learn the difference between “7 Day Average” and cumulative deaths.
Remember that guy who used to post lies about covid like this one? He doesn't post here any more. I wonder why.
You never heard of a KFC party bucket?
Vaccinations have been available to all vulnerable adults for some time. Death rates for children from covid-19 have been consistently below that for the regular flu. Why continue to scare, traumatize, make uncomfortable, and barely-educate inner-city children for no clear public health purpose? Superstition?
Unless you have acquired some immunity to the novel coronavirus through natural disease or vaccination, you are "vulnerable." Yes, some, with co-morbidities, are more vulnerable than others. However, this is crapshoot. Why gamble with kids' health and lives?
Kids under 12 cannot be vaccinated yet so all of them remain vulnerable to covid-19, especially now that the more infectious delta variant has become dominant. And, most of them will be in school buildings come September, as remote learning will not be an option.
Masks deter transmission and kids are not only capable of wearing them but also being educated while doing so. It's often the adults who are more resistant to wearing them and getting vaccinated when it's available.
Even when there's no good reason for the orders given and even when the supposedly responsible adults have no idea what they're doing. I think they've sacrificed enough for us. Asking them to continue to not be able to breathe properly and be constantly surrounded by adults masquerading as apocalyptic nightmare surgeons, all to protect anti-vaxxers or as the last vestige of "better safe than sorry", just because we can force it on them, is wrong in my opinion.
Should be exempt from the mask requirement at the very least. Why not?
Asking them to continue to not be able to breathe properly and be constantly surrounded by adults masquerading as apocalyptic nightmare surgeons...
Where is your evidence that they can't breathe properly? "Apocalyptic nightmare surgeons" sounds like a product of your own fever dreams. I don't think you understand the risks that maskless schools present to everyone, vaccinated or not. There is a lot of reliable information available, but I suspect you're consuming the other sort.
A compromise: Vaccinated teens with card to school nurse can go without masks. No? Then why are the bars and nightclubs currently filled with maskless adults?
Although vaccines provide a strong defense against severe illness caused by SARS-CoV-2, none fully protects against the infection, meaning many vaccinated people are still at risk of catching the virus and of transmitting it to other people.
There's more. You can find it.
As to why bars and nightclubs are filled with maskless people, maybe you never noticed that they have never been filled with the brightest bulbs? I'm not saying everyone who patronized bars was dim, but those who now feel compelled to do so maskless, well ...
