At noon, WCRB moves to 99.5 and WKLB (all country, all the time) moves to 102.5, Messenger informs us. OK, fess up - do you listen to country radio in Boston?

Country Radio
I didn't even know we had a country radio station. We're talking twangy, pop country, right? Not the decent bluegrass or roots country?

Hillbilly at Harvard is on WHRB-FM 95.3 on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
Some of the music on folk-oriented stations like WERS and WUMB could also be classified as country or bluegrass.
(by the way, WHRB also programs a fair amount of classical music)
Every Country Station in Boston dies...
... from neglect. And is replaced by some bizarre syndication package of bloviating fools or "soft rock".
Sheesh.
And no I don't listen to it. Yecccch!

We live in RI, and have listened to WCRB for years. With the change to 99.5MHZ, we are unable to receive the station in a listenable manner. It is being stepped all over by other stations.
You may have succeeded in loosing yout RI audience w/ this change.

Reception sucks in Roslindale
The new 'CRB is barely audible inside our house.
but it's great in Somerville
in fact, seems to come in better now than it did at its old frequency.
WCRB Reception
The thing that no one talks about is that the WCRB brodcast tower is now in Lowel insteatd of Waltham And it is much weeker. That is why the reception is worse in many areas.
WCRB dead in Newton
WCRB is getting drowned out by other stations around Newton. Awful. It was the _last_ classical station in Boston.. and now its been exiled to Lowell.
Well, hope you enjoy blasting Lowell and Southern New Hampshire. By the way, U-Mass Lowell (WJUL?) is on the air at 91.5. I can hear them no problems in Newton. But 99.5? Forgetaboutit.
We'll miss you.

WCRB Classical Station
The move to 99.5 has those of us living in the Oxford Massachusetts area with very poor reception. On overcast days trying to listen from my auto is almost impossible, the station gets overridden by others. I can no longer recive the station at home on my stereo, even my son who lives next door is now unable to receive the station with his Bose system.
For us this was the worse move the former 102.5 station ever made. The only positive thing about the move is that if we want to listen to Country music, now on 102.5, it comes in loud and clear.

I am in Scottsdale, Arizona, and was a 30-year fan of WCRB in Boston while I grew up there. I am getting the new station loud and clear over my computer with Windows Media Player. Just go to www.wcrb.com. Ironically, I just got sound on my ancient Pentium PC (running Windows98 with 64MB of RAM) two days ago when I finally decided it was high time to troubleshoot my 5-year-old problems with my soundblaster PC128 sound card...
