Another longtime family-owned market closing down, this time in Revere

Fiore's Market on Revere Street, which specializes in meat, announced yesterday:

After 43 years in business we have made the difficult decision to close our doors permanently. We will be liquidating all stock through our last day on August 28th. It has been our privilege to serve the city of Revere and watch generations of families grow up in this community.

The news comes less than two weeks after Russo's in Watertown announced its impending closing.

Just four days of liquidation?

You don't need much time to liquidate when you don't keep a lot of stock in the store because everything comes in fresh, is cut to order, and sold quickly.

They will be missed for sure, was great to have such an awesome butcher in my neighborhood all these years.

Besides any personal connection people have formed, close food access is also important for reducing the need/desire for cars.

I'm hoping that we'll see more things like Neighborhood Produce open up -- small grocery stores, the size of a convenience store but with food instead of chips and drain cleaner. It's really nice to be able to walk over and grab stuff as needed rather than having to make bigger trips to a bigger store that's farther away.
