Magoo is contemplating life. No more shall Magoo stroll to the market to get Magoo’s tender breast chicken. Magoo wants to feel life and death and reality. Magoo shall raise Magoo’s own chickens and express their life blood by culling, plucking, and yum yum eating such chickens with Magoo’s bare hands. Magoo shall hereinafter live. As Magoo’s life hero once shouted from upon the torture table before the wretched Longshanks…”Freeeedommmmmmm” Magoo.

If you can't do the crime
Torture and ethics not considered, I'd rather have fresher chicken corpse to gorge upon than several-day-old chicken corpse.
And all the plastic and advertising.
"Fresh Killed"

I always wondered why places like this always said "fresh killed" instead of the grammatically correct "freshly killed".
I think it's because...

They'll kill the poultry right in front of you. Not sure though.

Also consider the overall linguistic makeup of the community when that sign was first put up. Not a lot of native English speakers, functional though their communication may be.

Big Fowl wins another one.
Local food processing and production crushed.
Yes, the I like the sign.
I went. I bought. I got the t-shirt.
It was on the way home, so it made sense.
But I much prefer the business to be preserved than just the sign.
Wholesale slaughter

They are STILL operating the wholesale business on Newmarket Street in Boston.
So... Big Fowl hasn't killed them and eaten them for breakfast. Yet.
I wonder how Newmarket Street smelled on Thursday.

When I bought my shirt

the guy behind the counter said he sells more of those than they do chickens. He was joking (“you white people love these joints” he also said to me, haha), but in 2019 when I bought it he had to be seeing the writing on the wall.
Another small business, RIP.

Haunted

Just think of the thousands upon thousands of ghost chickens haunting the building.
Five million is a good reason to move operations!

But it tells the truth about where your chicken nuggets come from.
You haven't lived

You haven't really lived until you've cut a head off a chicken and watched it flap its wings because the spinal cord has lost communication with the brain.
And the real fun comes from plucking the feather cuz the best way is with boiling water. Which stinks & smells like wet KFC.
As a kid we raised chickens for a few years for a 4-H . We had to do that. I learned very early on meat at the store doesn't magically appear nicely cut, wrapped in cellophane, in a cooler.
This was about the same time I learned the song "Alouette". I think we were singing this (the fam) while we were killing the chickens.
Boy I wonder why I spend a ton of money on therapy these days.......

Been there, done that. My grandparents had a poultry farm.
Also did this with game birds. Process is the same.
"Running around like a chicken with its head cut off" is very literal for me.
On the other hand, there is a sense of accomplishment and a connection to what meat actually is and where it comes from. No wonder I went vegetarian for a number of years - I grew up on farm raised and game meat and I'll be honest when I say it really isn't the same food at all.
so what's my excuse for not being veg?

I still eat McDonald's :-)
And have a fondness for the McNuggets. Which related.. pre-dates 4-H project.
See comment about therapy :-D
