Yet another stupid name goes away

It's stuff like this that makes you feel good about the future of humanity after all: First WBZ-TV announces it's going to be calling itself WBZ again instead of CBS 4 Boston. John Keith adds to the festivities by breaking the news that Gibson Domain|Domain - a name we could never say without wondering "Who came up with that|that?" - is now Gibson Sotheby's International Realty. Now if only we can do something about those Green Company Companies.

Heh
I'm still trying to figure out how my former employer, "BBN Software Products", figured that the name that they changed to in 1995, "BBN Domain", somehow better represented what their business was all about, which was selling software products.
I think "vertical solutions" were involved somehow.
Seamless?
And did they offer seamless integration across heterogeneous operating environments with a remarkable RoI?
Or is that too much of a 30,000-foot view? Did they eat their own dog food? And were you there when they opened the kimono?
Hi, Dave
Did we know each other at BBN? I worked for BBN Software Products (when it was still called that) from 1991-93.
Hi, Ron
I started there around New Year's '95, so we never crossed paths. I must have seen some of your code, though.
I worked on RS and a little bit of CS. With all the name changes, selloffs, splits and acquisitions, I went through 5 (or was it 6?) different company names without changing jobs.
Ooohh...
That's a good pickup line, really.
"You don't know me, but I've been looking at your code for some time..."
