BPL services mostly back online and running again

BPL reported today it's gotten most of its back-end system back up again and today plans to restore many of its "public-facing" services, including the ability to stream and download from digital services, such as Kanopy, via BPL, use other third-party online services with a BPL account and reserve museum passes.

At branches, catalog computers and WiFi are back up, as is self checkout and public printing. Most, but not all, public-access computers are also available again.

But:

  • Patrons who had physical library cards issued to them on August 24 will need to bring those cards in so they can be re-activated.
  • Any patron who updated their account between Monday 8/23 at 9PM and Wednesday 4AM will need to log back on and re-enter those changes.

Still no word on just what hackers did to take things down last Wednesday.

This hack really really hit me. The hacks seem to be heading more on things that will really effect people.
