Man ordered held without bail at arraignment for repeatedly raping a woman sleeping at the State Street T stop

Suspect

A Revere man was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing next week on whether he should be held even longer following his arrest on a charge he raped a sleeping woman over two hours at the State Street T stop Friday night.

According to Suffolk County prosecutors, Luis Salinas-Ibanez, 33, came upon the woman around 10:30 p.m., only moments after she had laid down on a station floor to sleep. He then proceeded to rape her repeatedly over the next two hours, prosecutors say.

A T employee who was watching live video feeds from T stops spotted him on camera attacking her around 12:30 a.m. and immediately contacted Transit Police, according to the DA's office.

Responding officers located the victim inside the station. She reported that she had awoken multiple times to a male pulling down her pants and touching her without consent. She was able to provide a description of the man before being transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Transit Police posted the suspect's picture a few hours later; prosecutors say people immediately contacted police with his identity and workplace.

Officers located Mr. Salinas-Ibanez at his workplace at 12:19 p.m. – two hours after the release of the surveillance image. He allegedly made statements to police identifying himself in the security footage.

Innocent, etc.

What do we pay T workers to do if they don’t look at a live video feed for TWO HOURS while a violent crime is being committed?

What kind of animal is this guy?

God damn it.

Working a a T building with access to the Cameras, I can tell you it's impossible to watch all of them. I have 5 monitors and I only see a small portion of the building. I can only watch some of the 50+ cameras I have up at once. Thats one building. There are 149 stations and stops across the 5 colored lines so it's impossible to watch all constantly. The women was unconscious during it so it wasn't like she was putting up a struggle that could be witnessed.

Maybe their job isn't to constantly watch the camera? Who knows. We have no idea with the information given.

State Street is a bit labyrinthian with a number of out of the way corners - HOPING this horrible incident happened somewhere in the station there wasn't foot traffic as a way of explaining the lack of bystander help.

but that looks like the side entrance to the blue line on congress street, which is almost entirely empty after the office workers clear out.

The first article from Adam said attempted Rape. Now he repeatedly did it..I guess the first time Adam got his story wrong.

Is based on what Transit Police said at the time. Investigations reveal new facts sometimes.

Transit Police reported it on twitter as an attempted rape. After the arrest they reported it as an actual rape

This is why the homeless need housing. Let's stop building units for $3,000 + a month for now and focus on getting this woman into emergency housing.
