The article says rabbits don't dig burrows. That's true of American cottontails, but European rabbits, Oryctolagus cuniculus do dig burrows. They are social animals and live in elaborate underground colonies, a la "Watership Down".
Rabbit babies are born blind and helpless, but hares, by contrast, are born ready to rock and roll.
