Latest sewage readings continue to indicate Covid-19 numbers will soon plummet, but ...
The latest sampling results from sewage at the MWRA's Deer Island plant continue to forecast the current Covid-19 surge is breaking. But the numbers are still higher than those reported at the peak of last winter's surge.
The latest confirmed-case counts from the state seem to indicate actual numbers are coming down as well.
Biobot tests samples from the plant, which handles sewage from much of greater Boston (in the chart, orange is from samples from roughly south of Rte. 9, green to the north of it), to determine how many Covid-19 viral particles it contains. In the past, the samples have predicted fluctuations in actual Covid-19 numbers a week to ten days out. The idea is that people begin to excrete the virus several days before they realize they are infected or think they need to get tested.

How exciting
After all this time, to think we're just a few weeks away from better times...now to go to the bar down the street which had a "Free Beer Tomorrow" sign in the window yesterday, and then to kick the football that Lucy 100% swore that this time she'd hold for me
Don't forget...
...to lick every doorknob on the way.
(eta: in other words, I share your skepticism)
Covid in the news
Politicians are arguing about everything and Tom Brady is in the playoffs....things are normal.
You know what...
I'm going to be happy with the current trend.
Seems to me
To be a whole crock of shit.
Yeah
but it's an egg-shaped crock, symbolizing new birth and a new dawn, etc., etc.
Tomorrow
"The sun will come out Tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar That tomorrow
There'll be sun!
Tomorrow
Just thinking about tomorrow clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow, till there's none.
And actual cases are, in fact, dropping
Source.
I thought that was just a graph of volume
right before kickoff and during halftime of the Pat's playoff game. Everyone switched to Netflix at halftime.
