Too bad they can't learn remotely.
Thanks, Charlie!
Oh stop it.

You can’t have one off remote learning days. It’s not feasible to roll that out and BPS would be completely incapable of doing so. It’s not the republican boogeyman’s fault here.
Oh, Really?

It requires planning*, mostly to make sure that a) your teachers have their school-issued chromebook and a 'net connection and b) that your students have their tablet/chromebook and 'net connection as well. These are probably the sticking point for Boston.
Two years into the pandemic, this is no longer rocket surgery.
* My kid's class [not in Boston] has had to do this. It's a PITA, but absolutely doable.
Do you know the percentage of BPS

Students who never logged on during the pandemic? Do you know how many have internet access?
It’s not feasible to do one off remote learning days at BPS. And it sure as shit isn’t the governor’s fault.

Our neighbors to the north...

There are several communities in northern New Hampshire that do this on the regular, and have since before Covid. They were losing so many days to snow due to their rural, mountainous region that they rolled out a snow day Chromebook program.
It works like you'd think. All the kids have 'em, and have Internet. The teachers are always ready to transition to an online day, two days, even five days.
Snow day? Power through!
Now look, it's fair to suggest that maybe the day off from school is a welcome break, for both students and staff. But it's not like it can't be done; it just simply isn't being done.
* And yes, a rural NH town scales differently than Boston. I promise you they have less $ per student though...
