The Boston Licensing Board today approved a request by the new owner of Steve's Kitchen, 120 Harvard Ave. in Allston, to change the name to Cafe Weekend. Longtime owner Steve Stamos recently sold the place to Juhun Kwak after 37 years of hash slinging.

Ugh I can already tell this place isn’t gonna be the same. I wish any business owner luck , but Allston has changed and gotten progressively less gritty and more BU/frat spit shinned over last 10 or so years
Fare thee well, Steve

Another piece of old Allston bites the dust. This hits hard, although there's no question that Steve and his lovely family have earned a wonderful retirement. The coffee was lousy but the pastitsio was great. That place kept me alive in the 90s and the family still remembered me decades later.
I wonder what's happening to the menu board? I sort of hope it winds up in some band's rehearsal space.

Well, I was expecting some more high-falutin' words in the testimonial, something like ...after nearly four decades of service to this city, setting a high standard in the hospitality business...
...but if hash-slinging is all that fits on the back of the gold watch, so be it.
