Nine-tenths of your audience have no idea what you're talking about.

The other one-tenth of us, do.

I think quite of few of us recall the store that became Macey's and have fond memories of wandering its enchanting basement display during the holidays. It hasn't been that long!

...if Adam was referencing the names in and of themselves, or if he was being ultra-retro-meta and referencing the early Jordan's TV and radio commercials, which used to include the line "Not to be confused with Jordan Marsh," and, later, "No longer confused with Jordan Marsh."

Ah, the old days.

So, yes, the headline is for us oldtimers, who remember when there were two brothers, the commercials were funny and they still had a store on Main Street to Moody Street.

I always figured you could tell when someone moved to the eastern New England area by quizzing them with the various generations of Barry & Elliot radio commercials. Some day I need to find documentation so we can build a timeline of the variations - confused with Jordan Marsh, left on.. right on.., across from, Avon, etc. etc.

Oh, those poor recent immigrants who might be led to believe there's only one Brother Tatelman. They were better as a duo, like Click & Clack. I wonder how Barry's Rocasuba is doing?

- Not to be confused with "Anonymous"

There were two brothers involved in the store but few know that there was a third who unfortunately died in the early-, mid-1980's.

He actually wrote the copy, Was a critic in NYC, had a house in P'twn, that surprisingly had no furniture from Jordan's, or Jordan Marsh.

I had forgotten that tag line, though I do recall the commercials that used it, now that it's been spelled out for me. To update John's line, 1/10 get it, 1/10 need a reminder. Still, all in all, it wasn't that long ago that both brothers were associated with the store and Macy's was just a parade in New York.

Macy's was just a liquor store in Allston.

I believe to be entirely correct, the line is "Jaaaahwdan's Furnichuah, not to be confused with Jaaaahwdan Maaaaaawsh"

... and I had the exact same thought as Adam. I suspect that those stated proportions are reversed.

The other one-tenth of us, do.

And that one-tenth really appreciates the joke!

Aside from the wonderful headline (Thanks, Adam!) this is way cool. I'm sure I'll go there this coming Christmas season just to wallow in the nostalgia. If some parent asks me where my kids are, I'll say, "Whuh...? They were here just a moment ago! Clementine? Eggbert? Where are you?"

(I'll use those names just to make sure no actual children answer back. Then I'll pretend to go looking for them, and grab a Kelly's Roast Beef.)
