Russell's family made the announcement today of the death of the Celtics star, the first Black coach of a professional North American team and a civil-right activist for whom Boston built a statue outside City Hall.
The greatest winner in basketball history, 11-time @celtics champion Bill Russell has passed away at the age of 88. His impact both on and off the court was immeasurable.
