So stop being so cynical, no? Well, OK, there is one teeny little thing: Orange Line rides at first might actually be slower to let the redone tracks in the old slow zones settle. But you'll be sitting in brand new hard-plastic seats with the nubbly surfaces, since most of the cars, like 75% of them, will be the new bing-bingy new 'uns.

...running last Thursday night. Surprised the heck out of me. There was no big announcement of them being back in service though.

And the T delivered, hopefully with this fresh start the T stays on top of their maintenance.
Baker helped create the problem
Baker’s privatization schemes and lack of adequate funding is a big part of why this got so bad. He deserves no credit for the T being forced to clean up its act by the feds.

There’s problematic math
With that 75% number, to achieve the level of service the Orange Line was running in August, they need 60 cars. They have at least 70, so barring a technical issue, it will be all 1400 series come Monday.
Can’t wait for the reopening. Though the commuter rail has been good for me, it will be better knowing that if l miss a train, the wait for the next one won’t be too, too long.

Slow downs over the alternative. Major safety incidents, old trains, routine delays and a aging infrastructure.

Are you a regular orange line
Are you a regular orange line rider? It's easy to say you'll take the month long shutdown if you only use it to get to games at the garden or not at all. For regular riders seeing the state neglect repairs and hiring needed staffing levels for 7 years while declining additional funding the legislature offered and only acting when the feds came in is not a win.
I’m a regular Orange Line rider
Every commute since 2020, when my train slowed to a crawl at several point, thereby lengthening my commute by 5 to 10 minutes, I wondered when they were going to shut the line down- admittedly my expectations were for a series of weekend closures, and I do use it on weekends- and fix all the problems. I’ve lost an hour a week for 2 years.
So yeah, if there are no slow orders on the line in a week or so, if the switches and signals don’t fail on a regular basis, and if the trains no longer break down on a regular basis, it will all be worth it.

1) it will be slow not slower. “still be slower” means slower than it will be when the speed zones are removed and the track has settled, not slower than it was.
2) t will be only one more week of slow trains until the track has settled and the speed zones are removed.

I'm waiting for the I90 straightening project where the state saves time and money by just shutting storrow highway instead of building interim roads during the project.

You did your job well and treated all passengers with respect. Thankfully there were no security issues on the shuttle buses the last month. Hopefully the orange line will continue to be crime free starting tomorrow.

I will miss the commuter rail
I will miss the commuter rail. Before the shutdown, taking the 32 to FH and then the Orange Line took at least an hour but I took the zone 2 commuter rail to Back Back in 20 minutes during the shutdown. I cannot afford the monthly pass so back to the slow orange line/bus for me.
What about the part of the shutdown left unreported?
How is the teardown of the Government Center Garage going?

ya I wanna know about this because from the looks of it last Friday.. they haven't done too much. They removed what was left of the office space and one side has a bit more takend own.
But the area above the green line (entrance and where the station would be) is still under whats left the garage.
I foresee a few more closures of the station at least to complete the tear down.
What a disaster taking down this parking deck has been.
