The Athletic reports John Henry's Fenway Sports Group has put its Liverpool soccer club up for sale. If Henry does sell the team, it would decrease the number of English footy teams owned by Boston area men by a full 50% (earlier this year, another area man lost his bid to buy a team across the pond).

They're in eighth place, heinous by their standards, and anything below fourth is bad for the balance sheet.

The TV revenue is ridiculous.
4th or 8th aren't going to hurt them that much financially. They are not Stoke who got crushed by lack of gate revenue during Covid.
Henry bought them for 300M GBP. He might sell it for $4B. That's a nice 12 year run.
They are going to have a better second half. They still looked shaky yesterday but things are getting better. They would have lost if Son was playing for Spurs and not hurt.
PS - Anyone from Dorchester here? It only costs about $40 a year to be a member of Dorchester Town FC. It is a semi-pro club in Dot's namesake. You get a nice plastic membership card and the chance to get 10% off merchandise if you make it over Dorset. Look them up.

Yea no, sorry, if they are not top 4 they don't get Champions League Money.
That ran nearly to 9 figures last year.

Klopp will right the ship.
They were counted out of making the Champions League in early 2021 and ended up in third place. They made it, and got to the final.
That said, it does look like a good time for FSG to cash out. Too bad there are no Russian oligarchs to buy in.

This sounds like something that would benefit from Elon Musk's management skills. Professional sports teams become much more profitable after firing half the players.
