Police investigate 'intimate photo' extortion attempt against Cambridge man

Cambridge Police report on an apparent attempt to blackmail a Walden Street resident:
The victim stated that a party known to him has threatened to release intimate photos and videos of him to all of his social media contacts if he does not pay a specific dollar amount. The victim has paid $325 so far and the suspect is demanding more.
Last week, a Maryland man was arrested on charges he tried a similar stunt against two Boston-area men with whom he left a phone camera running as he either had sex or almost had sex with them.

Honest Question
Sincere question: is this Cambridge police log a log of all the calls they reported to on a specific day? Like... is this log ALL the calls they responded to. If so... I have some questions about the police budget.

I think the insinuation isn't "logs are a bad use of funds", but rather "the workload in the logs is less than you'd expect for an agency that gets $73,000,000 a year".
That's less original
but just as stupid. An uneventful log could just as well be regarded as evidence of money well spent. If the log showed five murders a day, what would be the response? "$73 million a year, and what do we get for it? Five murders a day!" There's no pleasing some people.

If you really want to get into the weeds, go to https://data.boston.gov/dataset/crime-incident-reports-august-2015-to-da... and then on Crime Incident Reports - 2023 to Present and you'll get a sortable/filterable/downloadable list of crimes, with the caveat that sexual and domestic offenses are not included (by state law) and neither are incidents in which State, Transit or any of the various college police departments were given primary responsibility for a particular case.

They should not have
They should not have published the victim's street. Even though Walden Street has a lot of buildings on it, there's still no reason to narrow down who it might be. And this policy of mentioning the street without the house number is even more ridiculous for very short streets with just a handful of buildings.
