Police in Wellesley wish to remind the citizenry that it's not 1955 anymore.
The Wellesley Police Department is investigating three reports of stolen cars from Wellesley driveways this morning. All had the keys in them and were unlocked.
Additionally, two stolen vehicles were recovered by the Wellesley Police Department that were stolen in nearby communities. Those vehicles also were unlocked and had keys inside.
So, yeah, you, too, Weston, Needham and Newton.

Oh ffs! I grew up in a small town in upstate NY where people didn't even lock the doors to their houses, much less their cars, but no one was fool enough to leave their keys in the car.
We just had the same thing

You don't even have to have the keys in the car - they just have to be close enough to the car for someone to pick off the "talk" between the car and the key.
This happened to our neighbor - and now we keep our keys out of range or in the metal fire safe.

There must be a lot of turnover in the Wellesley housing market. This announcement by Wellesley Police seems to be becoming an annual tradition.
