Man who keeps getting arrested for robbing and beating people arrested for robbing and beating somebody outside Theater District pizza place

A man already facing six open cases involving robbery and assaults was arraigned yesterday on charges he robbed somebody leaving New York Pizza on Tremont Street in December and then, when the man resisted, punched him in the face.

James Dube, 43, was charged with unarmed assault to rob, assault and battery and malicious destruction of property under $1,200 for the Dec. 17 incident, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Boston Municipal Court Judge Steven Kay set bail at $3,000, but also revoked his bail on the six previous cases, meaning he would continue to sit in jail even if he made the latest bail amount, the DA's office says.

The DA's office says that a couple was leaving New York Pizza shortly after 9 p.m. on Dec. 17, when Dube approached and grabbed the man's bag.
Judge Steven Key revoked Dube’s bail on all open dockets and imposed the conditions requested. Dube will return to court on June 9 for a probable cause hearing.

The victim grabbed the bag back before Dube punched him, breaking his glasses and causing minor facial swelling. Dube fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police quickly shared Dube’s photo and other officers identified Dube as the same suspect they had just arrested for numerous assault, drug, and larceny offenses and warrants. The clothing in the photo matched the clothing Dube wore while being booked for the arrest made subsequent to the pizza shop assault.

Dube has a lengthy record with numerous unarmed robbery and assault convictions, as well as seven listed aliases, the DA's office reports.
