A really smashing wall in Jamaica Plain

Remains of a car smashed into the wall outside Angell Animal Medical Center

Shamus Moynihan reports heading over to Angell Animal Medical Center on South Huntington Avenue at Castleton Street from his nearby home after hearing "a long tire screech" and then the sound of a car crashing into the brick wall the MSPCA apparently had the forethought to put up along its property.

right through the new "protected" bike lanes. When will the city learn flex posts dont stop speeding cars and start using actual bollards, planters, and barriers for bike lanes?

Waiting on the witty retorts.

Why the chimneysweeps?

Why the bicycles?

Just getting out in front of the "Why Do We Need Cars People" Most of whom, though not all, are between 24 and their mid-30's, and who don't have kids.

Why do we need cars on sidewalks?

I'm shocked it took that long.

Is questioning if we need totalled cars on sidewalks analogous to asking why we needed cars?

Or is it that pointing out the poor road design and poor licensing standards that have resulted in this driver totalling their car on a sidewalk simply too radical a thought for you?

This is like standing on a streetcorner, yelling "You think I'm a loser? You think I'm a loser?? Call me a loser, I dare you!" at random passersby, and then crowing with victory when someone calls you a loser.

You are a loser.

On the back on Brookline Ave last week. Almost got taken out by a driver looking at her phone. She slammed on the brakes in time.

But it was cancelled due to the weather (about as relevant as your comment).

Since the thread is about a car crash, a bike lane, and people who ride bikes transporting kids or not.

There’s nothing related to weather or bbqs. Your comment receives zero points.

Your comment, like mine added zero to the conversation. By your “lojik” if I had included the not pertinent fact that my nephew has ridden a bike, it would somehow make it germane to the discussion.

And must be sorely disappointed with the lackluster results hours later.

Consider charging rent!

than try to pick fights on a local news blog. Pretty sad!

Might I suggest a new hobby? Say, bicycling is a great way to get some fresh air and exercise and see the city!

I did a lot of other things yesterday.

If you take all of Sunday afternoon to post a comment (owing to your way of thinking), perhaps you should consider having a live in aide to help, you know, with things.

This is ableist speech.

The reference to "having a live in aide to help" is done in the manner of an ableist slur. You're calling into question someone's mental and physical capabilities in a disparaging way.

Take it down please.

Also it took you all of 12 hours to respond to post that response. Sure you might've been sleeping but you've already been critical of two posters in this thread about response times and well, what's good for the goose right?

I clicked on this story expecting the crash to be on the narrow and awkward Day Street side of Angell, not a wide intersection with traffic lights. However, South Huntington traffic can be ballistic even on Sundays. I hope the driver (and any nearby pedestrians) are okay.

That's not what "hit the bricks" means.

The brick wall predates the MSPCA's purchase of the property in 1976. I suspect that it was built by the House of the Angel Guardian, a Catholic orphanage for boys that occupied the site from 1914 on. It later became a Catholic seminary until Angell Memorial bought it.

So that's where the seminary high school was?
A priest friend told me about it once and I misunderstood him - thought he said it was much closer to the Pond.

the wall dates from the time the property was a prison for juvenile catholic hoodlums.

It probably turned left on Castleton from Jamaicaway.

See the Square Root building getting 1/2 destroyed in Roslindale - no-one is to blame!

But it would appear that you are just going to skip that step and go straight to sentencing.

Remember the car that hit the porch of the triple decker on Washington Street in Roslindale a few months back killing a guy. So many people on this website were ready to throw the driver in jail. It turns out that there were charges, and when the guy who wasn't driving the car was charged, we found out that the driver of the car who hit the porch wasn't exactly at fault.

Circling back to Sebastians, the word has been that there was a mechanical fault with the vehicle.

I seem to have missed something -- can you tell us more or link to an article about this?

“when the guy who wasn't driving the car was charged, we found out that the driver of the car who hit the porch wasn't exactly at fault.” Can you explain further or show a link about this?

Not sure if it was this crash or the serious one shortly after, but the car that hit the porch had been hit by another car, which pushed it into the porch. The person at fault was the driver of the car that hit the car that hit the house.

I didn't want to detract from the point, being that investigations uncover facts not mentioned in the initial reporting.

On the Washington Street porch crash, here is the full story. Given the police reporting, I'm not going to fault who was charged, but it wasn't the person who struck the people.
