Area man seeks to fulfill lifelong dream: He has the 1,000-lb pumpkin, but now he needs a forklift

Guy wants to row a giant pumpkin down the Charles River, but the 1,000-lb. pumpkin he's apparently procured for his Oct. 14 orange ride is just too large to get from the truck to the river without a forklift, so now he's hoping some kind soul with a forklift to spare will help him out in his hour of need. No word on what he's doing (done?) with all the pumpkin guts, what he plans to do once he gets to the locks or whether DCR has said OK, but first things first.

I can't imagine what he plans to do, but I hope he gets that forklift and announces the date and time, because I want to take pictures. Because this is way beyond a bunny with a pancake on its head.

Google for the images - hilarious!

There are pumpkin regattas in Maine, Nova Scotia, Germany, and many other spots. It would be so fun if it became a thing here.

...I think I have to go to this.

Will he be carving this massive pumpkin hollow to sit inside while he rows? If so, that greatly reduces the 1,000 pounds

So he's made a pumpkin boat out of it? That's cool. But I think it still has to be registered.

I'm fairly sure that's only if he carved a mount for a motor.

Source.

I'm nearly positive that small unpowered craft, like canoes and kayaks, need not be registered.
