The bus driver was a Masshole

Robert LeBlanc forwards a copy of some e-mail he sent to the MBTA bus superintendent about an incident around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday:

I had the pleasure of interacting with one of your bus drivers( bus # 0617, )either route 86 or 87 headed west on Somerville Ave between the Somerville Ave & union Square and Somerville Ave & Prospect stops. As I was crossing the street the bus approached and slowed at the last second with the driver looking upset that he had to slow down, the driver then stopped the bus in the middle of the street, opened the doors and proceeded to yell at me and taunt me trying to provoke me. I'm sure the passengers aboard appreciated the bus being stopped like that. Wow...you can't buy that kind of great publicity. Where do they find these people?

Won't the MBTA have a recording of the incident?

I would not be surprised if it was the same guy who blew by me at 50+ mph on Broadway where I had been waiting for 45 minutes for either of 2 buses to arrive, then was so kind as to yell at me through the closed door to "go fuck yourself" after I sprinted down to the next stop to catch him as he was stopped at a red light.

In a wonderful coincidence, I was already headed to the Sullivan Square bus garage to pick up my cell phone which had just been turned in to lost and found. After I picked up my jaw from the ground because I was so shocked at this driver's insane behavior, I marched the 40 minute walk down (during which no more buses came, even though one should have been coming every 30 minutes) and filed a written complaint against the driver while I was there.

I saw him driving a bus again about 4-5 months later, which I found really disheartening.

Why do we continue to let the MBTA run our transit system? THEY HAVE FAILED. BLOW IT UP.

Fire everybody, and rehire the ones that don't suck. Is this the best they can do with hiring? Everybody wants to go on the state. Hire the people who are capable of doing the job without disgracing themselves. At 10% unemployment, they can be found.

Do you realize how many LEDs that would take?

Recently on an MBTA bus in Cambridge, the bus starts to pull away from the curb while this guy is running alongside it. Middle-aged woman sitting on the seats up front starts saying firmly, clearly, and loudly something like, "YOU HAVE A PASSENGER. PASSENGER. PASSENGER." Driver stops and opens doors. "THANK YOU."

It was like an automated emergency warning, "PULL UP. PULL UP."
