Another poor confused flower

Mary Ellen spotted this blooming azalea in her West Roxbury yard yesterday. They normally bloom in the spring.

Confused, or Defiant?
Good for them, making the most of the limited daylight. I am personally finding the persistence of blooming rosebushes and not-yet-past-peak fall foliage to be greatly therapeutic this week in trying to acclimate to winter standard time.

A lamp would be better
Plants that bud or bloom out of season are not going to handle the subsequent cold well at all.
Some azaleas can do this!
I had an azalea bloom last month as well and had never seen this but some azaleas can bloom late, and some are "encore" azaleas, which can rebloom multiple times in a year.
It set my mind at rest that maybe it wasn't confused but just had conditions to do its normal thing this year in particular.
