Sign that promises no Christmas music

Vinnie Tesla noticed some damn fine marketing at Susanna on Mass. Ave. in Cambridge today.

I get wham'd with that song every time I go to Market Basket. Every year. They play it far too much.

Got Carey'd away to Whamhalla.

I think they play one or the other every 10 minutes!

Is the gift wrapping upstairs or the Xmas free music zone?

If you go upstairs, you won't hear any Christmas music, and after you shop, they offer free gift wrapping.

Had to look that up. Based on the lyrics I don't think I've actually *ever* heard that song? Guess that means I'm winning...

I remember a long time ago that radio stations wouldn't play Christmas music until two weeks before Christmas; now the sonic onslaught begins on Veterans' Day. Each time I listen to a performer mangle a Christmas tune, I think to myself, "what would entice them to perform these songs, other than contractual obligations, and under duress?"

I am looking forward to December 26 when Magic 106.7 and Mix 104.1 go back to their original mediocre top 40 programming.
