Man bites, rapes woman on Beacon Hill, tries to bite arresting officers, DA says

A man already facing charges for aggravated assault at a Dorchester bowling alley now faces charges he started the New Year by raping a woman on Bowdoin Street on Beacon Hill, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Milthon Correa-Regifo, 45, was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court today on charges of rape, two counts of indecent assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon - shod foot - and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, the DA's office reports.

Judge James Coffey set bail at $5,000 on the Beacon Hill charges, but Correa-Regifo will remain behind bars even if he can find the money, because Coffey revoked his bail on an outstanding charge of aggravated assault for an incident early on Nov. 27, 2022 at Boston Bowl on Morrissey Boulevard, the DA's office says.

According to the DA's office:

At about 2:16 a.m. [on Jan. 1], the victim, 26, approached a State Trooper near Ashburton Place and told him that she had just been raped inside an apartment on Bowdoin Street. As the victim and the trooper spoke, a man emerged from a Bowdoin Street apartment and walked toward them. The woman saw the man, later identified as Correa-Regifo, and said, "yeah, it was him." Correa-Regifo became belligerent when the trooper approached. An off-duty Boston police officer assisted the trooper in attempting to place Correa-Regifo under arrest. Correa-Regifo violently resisted arrest both at the scene and at Boston Police Area A-1, where officers attempted to book him. He screamed at officers, attempted to bite them, and spit at them.

The victim told police that Correa-Regifo bit her on the buttock before raping her. Several police officers sustained minor injuries during the struggle with Correa-Regifo.
